AYPE - THE APE MAN
In a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a nuclear winter that wiped out 90% of all life on the planet, the surviving humans and animals have undergone mutations that have both improved some and beastified the majority.
Amidst all this chaos, Aype appears, an ape that has evolved into a humanoid form, and spends his days wandering in search of his origins, using only fragments of memory from his life before exposure to radiation, which culminated in his evolution.
THE PROJECT
This personal project aimed to apply all the knowledge acquired in over 20 years of experience, as well as to explore new possibilities, techniques and styles, which is generally not possible due to scripts and briefings from clients and project management.
RIGGING
The rigging was developed taking into account the characteristics of our character, who has humanoid proportions, more intense facial expressions and feet that require a structure similar to that of the hands with the ik and Fk system, in addition to the traditional Reverse foot system.
The system has at least two selection options for the position controllers, giving animators more freedom.
MODELING
The modeling of this character has a developed topology, both for the construction of a consistent and lightweight anatomy, and to assist the rigging in the construction of high-standard deformations in the animation process.

THE LOOKDEV
The painting of our character's textures was done in Substance Painter, mixing realistic and stylized concepts.

We used ZBrush to create additional textures and volumes, such as refining musculature, veins, pores and expression lines, again using both human and chimpanzee elements.
